Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Repair@mnappliancerepair.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • Normal usage of fabric softener sheets is ok to use, but can lead to a coating film build up. This can cause clogged lint filters and incorrect moisture sensor readings.
  • If you use them, be sure to clean the screen of your dryers lint filter and wipe off your dryer's moisture sensor regularly.
  • Follow the manufacturer recommendations and proper maintenance of your dryer will give you years of service.

  • If you are noticing that your clothes are taking longer to dry or not drying all the way, you might want to have your dryer vent checked and cleaned by a professional.
  • It's very common to have a build up of lint in the dryer and venting ductwork. This can be a fire hazard, as well.
  • The main cause for dryer vent fires is a build up of lint in the dryer duct. A lint filter does not stop all lint from entering the ductwork.
  • If left unchecked, this lint can build up over time and potentially catch fire in the heating element of the dryer or inside of ductwork of your home.  Check out this report from the NFPA

  • If it's an emergency, you can sometimes get away with stopping a dryer cycle early.   However, we strongly recommend letting a cycle come to its natural stop.
  • Gas dryers and electric dryers can get very hot, so if you don’t let a cycle finish and therefore complete its cool down part of the cycle then things can come out very hot. This can be damaging to the dryer as well as your laundry.
  • If the dryer drum stops when the unit is still very hot this can cause noise the next time you use your dryer because the heat excessive can damage the drum rollers.
  • Metal fixtures like buttons and zips can even cause burns.  Always follow the manufacturer recommendations!
